We want to recognize early, intervene competently, actively monitor progress towards goals, and refer appropriately.
“You’re not here because you’re sick or broken or in trouble. You’re here because the people that love you want you to be the best version of yourself possible. They want you to have every tool in your toolbox. Sometimes, we use words that may feel big and scary, so that we know what tools we need. These are just explanations of the way your beautiful brain works. We have to name our job, so we know the right tool. I wouldn’t use a hammer to flip pancakes, and in the same way we have to assess what is going on, so we can strategize the best solutions. We have to name our job, but these words don’t define you.”
