Assessment Process

Intake meeting

The psychologist will conduct a parent or individual intake interview to learn more about the individual and explain the diagnostic evaluation process. This may take place virtually or in person, depending on the presenting referral question.

TESTING APPOINTMENT(S)

Testing appointments will be conducted individually with either the psychologist or a testing expert, known as a psychometrist. Various areas of development and functioning will be assessed. While we desire for the process to be as efficient as possible, we also want to prioritize the individual’s well-being and ensure that we are capturing the individual’s optimal level of functioning. As such, testing may occur in multiple appointments, depending on the presenting concern.

scoring and analysis

After the test administration, the psychologist will score, analyze, and interpret the assessment results. The psychologist takes into account the unique client presentation, assessment findings, historical and current context, and often consults with additional members of the client’s support network or treatment team (spouse, parents, grandparents, teachers, psychiatrist, and/or therapist).

feedback meeting

During the virtual or in person feedback meeting, the psychologist will present the findings of the evaluation, scores on the standardized tests, conclusions, and recommendations for next steps.
